[Letter] 1846 Feb. 9, Edge Hill [Culpeper, Va.] to John A. Broadus, Clarke, Co., Va. via Washington City / Carry. 1846.

Writes to her brother who was teaching school at Rose Hill, the home of William Sowers. Says she did "not mean to speak of your having commenced the study of medicine but one or two persons have asked me if such was not your intention." She warns, "It is your nature, Jack, to be fond of ladies company nor would I have you otherwise, but then it will not do to give them too much of your valuable time for now time is beginning to be valuable to you."
